Here are a few of my favourite things I came across on CraftGawker tonight. Such talented people out there! Birdland Creations, handcrafted silver jewellery, Low cut knit dress by raghousenternational, Cute handbag by ChristianMarie, Mushroom Necklace by LuLuBug Jewelry, and Girl Illustration by Bellafonte.
I have a big bunch of blogs in my Google Homepage feed, but these are the ones I like to check on every day or so: #1. The Happy Home – Belinda Belinda’s blog is so inspirational, almost every single post has an idea in it that I want to try. She is really stylishly [...]
Obama on Winning the Nobel Peace Prize Obama said he was surprised and deeply humbled by the honor, and planned to travel to Oslo in December to accept the prize. “Let me be clear: I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on [...]
The colours, her fabric designs, the crafty goodness, it’s all lush and beautiful and inspirational (if you’re into that kind of thing – which I am).
Her photography is really lovely too =)

For my 25th Birthday this year I’m hosting a Halloween Party, which is fairly unusual in Australia (most people I’ve invited had to ask what date Halloween was?!), so to get everyone in the mood I sent out some cool invitations and have bought a whole bunch of decorations from the party store in Queanbeyan. I was going to hire Naomi from Hello Naomi Cakes who did my wedding cake to make me a fabulous spooky cake, but as it turns out we’re on a bit of a budget so I’m going to have a crack at it myself!
I came across some fantastic cakes made by the uber talented Mary and Brenda Maher of CakeGirls (in Chicago) that are totally inspiring me to go all out and think 3d for this cake of mine, so wish me luck!

And what a story! This one is actually not a new find, it’s from November last year (right about the time I was finishing up our invitations, wish I’d seen these these beforehand for inspiration!), but I didn’t have a blog back in November so I thought I’d share them now.
Matt Dorfman from www.metalmother.com designed these invitations for his wedding to Jill, and they are so cool. Funny, well designed, interesting and witty, it makes you want to go to the wedding even without knowing them, because you know it’ll be a good time.

I’ve just discovered Danielle’s blog (and store), and the first post I read has sucked me right in, she’s a girl after my own heart! For her son’s 6th Birthday party, she created these totally amazing invitations by photographing her kid (complete with cute bowling shirt and hat) outside a 50′s style bowling alley, designing some graphics to go with the theme, printing, cutting, pasting… and viola!

Welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere. I'm Mikaela, I am female, 25, married, and busy by choice. I love life and have too many ideas in my head, and wish there were more hours in the day (I'm sure old people always said that when I was growing up). I live in and love Canberra, Australia (2 hours to beach or snow, what more could you ask for?). For more about who I am and what I do, go to the about page =)

We had giant hamburgers for dinner. Bun, tomato sauce, mustard, cheese, hot chilli meat pattie, more cheese, pineapple, beetroot, tomato, lettuce, avocado, bun. YUM. Giant! I had two. See my last post about always eating too much.
Yesterday I was in Coles and saw this yummo looking Italian bread which inspired me to make Bruschetta as an entreé to dinner last night. I forgot to get Olive Oil when I was there so had to improvise with peanut oil, but it wasn’t too bad. I buttered the bread (no oil, remember?), spread [...]
This is a recipe I sort of made up about 4 years ago. I think it’s probably based on something I had once and I just tried to remember the ingredients when putting it together. I’ve got it down to a fine art now, everyone loves this salad. It goes perfectly with snags and steak [...]
Before going to the coast last week I made 2 ribbon organiser boxes. One turned out really well, the other not so much. Here is the latter, made from an old tissue box. The reason I don’t like the end result is because the tissue box was too flimsy to begin with, the walls went [...]
As promised, here are Girds’ and Harley’s new doggie beds! The reason I decided to make these is because their current beds are lumpy, big oofy pillows, with blankets on top. They take up far too much room in our bedroom, aren’t very portable, and are hard to wash. These beds, however, are the opposite [...]
Yesterday and today were spent putting my house back together, so I haven’t had a chance to complete the DIY projects I wanted to do today to show here. Hopefully I can finish the doggie beds tonight as well as at least start on my ribbon organiser… We’ll see how I go, I still have [...]
