Over Christmas I decided I needed a work desk in the study to make all my handmade goodies so I could stop using the dining table and having nowhere to eat dinner (if we so chose to use the table instead of the couch in front of the tv). So of I trotted to bunnings, [...]
The other day I tried my hand at baking some Christmas cookies to give as gifts this year, and I must say they turned out pretty cute! I just used a simple butter biscuit/cookie recipe and cut out circles and star shapes using standard cookie cutters. My initial idea was to create little Christmas trees [...]
As promised, photos of DIY projects completed over the weekend! In a previous post I talked about the cool drawer organiser that I was going to try my hand at. Originally it was going to be an organiser for ribbon spools (as the inspiration was), but I have 3 drawers to work with and I [...]
I had a great idea the other day for an eerie DIY decoration for hallowing, re-using vases and submersible floralytes from our wedding.

I’m really excited to be launching my other side project soon, www.justdetails.net. It’s going to be a “Wedding services and guide for brides” website, dedicated to the Canberra region. Usually my projects are always global, reaching out to a market worldwide. This time I’ve decided to keep it local, to promote small businesses competing with the big boys in this fierce industry. Canberra actually has a lot to offer and you don’t always have to go interstate or abroad to find what you need, you just need to dig a little deeper. Which is what I plan to do for the Brides-to-be of Canberra, listing some great resources and design and photography services provided by moi.

I wanted quite simple placecards for the guests at our wedding, just simply a folded card with their name printed on it. I looked around everywhere online to find some pre-cut cards, but the prices were extraordinary! The cheapest I could find went for 70c a piece, and then I needed to buy more paper [...]
I haven’t been to my hairdresser since the wedding, and I’ve now been married for 7 months… eep! I’ve been really happy with how my hair is growing, because the layers have almost grown out everything looks longer, so I haven’t really needed to go get it cut because it’s all nearly one length and I was liking it that way. I decided that I wanted to cut a side fringe back into it though, and also the colour really needed a freshen up. But we’re on a bit of a budget at the moment so I decided instead of going to get it done for about $160, I’d do it myself for $15. Good saving I think!

I decided to sew the sashes for my bridesmaids and myself for my hens night in the party colour theme of blue and orange. It was a lot of fun, quite easy, they turned out brilliantly and were totally unique!

In this step by step tutorial I’ll show you how I went about making white rose pomander balls for my wedding. Step 1. Gather your supplies! You will need: – Silk rose stems – Styrofoam balls 10cm across (4in) – Thin coloured ribbons – Wide coloured ribbon – Wire snippers – Glue gun I bought [...]

Welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere. I'm Mikaela, I am female, 25, married, and busy by choice. I love life and have too many ideas in my head, and wish there were more hours in the day (I'm sure old people always said that when I was growing up). I live in and love Canberra, Australia (2 hours to beach or snow, what more could you ask for?). For more about who I am and what I do, go to the about page =)

We had giant hamburgers for dinner. Bun, tomato sauce, mustard, cheese, hot chilli meat pattie, more cheese, pineapple, beetroot, tomato, lettuce, avocado, bun. YUM. Giant! I had two. See my last post about always eating too much.
Yesterday I was in Coles and saw this yummo looking Italian bread which inspired me to make Bruschetta as an entreĆ© to dinner last night. I forgot to get Olive Oil when I was there so had to improvise with peanut oil, but it wasn’t too bad. I buttered the bread (no oil, remember?), spread [...]
This is a recipe I sort of made up about 4 years ago. I think it’s probably based on something I had once and I just tried to remember the ingredients when putting it together. I’ve got it down to a fine art now, everyone loves this salad. It goes perfectly with snags and steak [...]
Before going to the coast last week I made 2 ribbon organiser boxes. One turned out really well, the other not so much. Here is the latter, made from an old tissue box. The reason I don’t like the end result is because the tissue box was too flimsy to begin with, the walls went [...]
As promised, here are Girds’ and Harley’s new doggie beds! The reason I decided to make these is because their current beds are lumpy, big oofy pillows, with blankets on top. They take up far too much room in our bedroom, aren’t very portable, and are hard to wash. These beds, however, are the opposite [...]
Yesterday and today were spent putting my house back together, so I haven’t had a chance to complete the DIY projects I wanted to do today to show here. Hopefully I can finish the doggie beds tonight as well as at least start on my ribbon organiser… We’ll see how I go, I still have [...]
