I broke my promise. In my last post mentioning my laundry makeover, I promised I wouldn’t spend over $100. I blame Bunnings. Legitimately!
I had everything in my shopping trolley, and it all added up to $85. That gave me $15 to purchase the mat for the floor, and it would be $100 even, and I would be very pleased. But. Alas. Boo hiss. Bunnings foiled me. I got to the checkout and she rang everything up: $93. Three items were not the price I thought they were, so disappointing.
To salvage the situation though, for the purposes of keeping the makeover under $100, I will use a mat we already have in the final reveal, but will end up swapping it out for the $15 mat from Urban Outfitters I am buying next week.
SO, here is the update: This makeover is taking a long time. I didn’t get as much as I wanted to get done this weekend, because of going to watch JA’s soccer, then going out socialising with some lovely twitter friends (@Julaberry @mickrad @McNazzle @LittleChoo @alivicwil @TripleJoe), watching the Socceroos game (sob, fingers crossed for a big win against Serbia), getting up late today, going to JA’s sister’s birthday drinks and then wandering around getting food tonight. So it wasn’t the most productive weekend, but I’m still happy with what I achieved.
I did move the clothes dryer off the high shelf all by myself. This alone makes it a great weekend, I am amazing *ahem*.
There is still lots to do! Only the walls pictured have 2 coats of paint, the others still need starting and finishing. I’ve only done one length of trim, and the shelf needs another coat of enamel. The undies & bras rack (more on this later) still needs to be painted and attached to the back of the door. And the door needs to be taken off it’s hinges, painted, and put back up. I’m putting up a mirror and some other bits and bobs to try and make it a pleasant room to be in, so I don’t mind being in there and doing some laundry!
Don’t look too closely at my handiwork, I’m actually terrible at cabinetry and there’s screws sticking out everywhere where I was to weak to drill into the hardwood studs! *sigh*

I’m glad you had some fun out with friends. The shelves and cabinets look great!!
